Plastic pollution is a growing problem for marine environments across the globe, including Vietnam. To address this issue, researchers at The Lyell Centre, Heriot-Watt University have been collaborating with Phenikaa University, the VNU Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Science, the Fisheries and Technical Economic College, the Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment, the Vietnam Institute of Fisheries Economics and Planning, and the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi to better understand and tackle the plastic problem in Vietnam.
Project 3SIP2C – Sources, Sinks and Solutions for the Impact of Plastics on Coastal Communities in Vietnam – brings together scientists, industry experts, government officials, schools, and coastal communities. They use science, interactive games, and community engagement to co-create and share knowledge, working together to find solutions to plastic pollution in Vietnam’s coastal areas. The project is funded by UKRI’s Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) through the Global Challenges Research Fund (Project code: NE/V006088/1). To learn more, visit www.lessplasticvietnam.com
