Coastal Futures series for COP28 – Lyell Centre Contributions to Research for a Sustainable Future of Coastal Communities and Environment
Discover what our researchers do and how important it is to work with coastal communities on issues such as plastic pollution, fisheries, marine biodiversity, and food justice. Coasts are a meeting point for processes that happen inland in the terrestrial and river systems and those which occur in the depths of the ocean floor, within the water column, and on the surface. Our planet’s coasts are rich and diverse, and essential for sustaining life on land and in the sea, but they are also vulnerable and heavily impacted by anthropogenic stressors. Research focus on coastal environments, biodiversity, culture and livelihoods is essential for creating a healthier ecosystem, healthier seafood supply chain, and healthier planet.
